Market Statistics . . .

In the Kure Beach, NC real estate market 1 homes was sold in December 2011 - Down 4 from November.   Both the average sale price and the median sale price rose to $600,000.00 - a statisical anomaly that occurs when there is only one price to average.  Rising sales prices this month are  consistent with other local markets.  Prices may continue to rise modestly in the short term, but the relatively constant numbers of bank owned and short sale properties will continue to put significant downward pressure on home values in the market for the longer term.  Clearly, it is still a great time to buy if you know where to look and excellent buying opportunities in all price ranges still exist.  And, as a local expert in the Kure Beach real estate market, I'm here to help you find a great property at a great price. Please contact me today for an up to date market or listings report.  CLICK HERE for more detailed statistics on the Kure Beach real estate market.

About the Town . . .

Kure Beach is bordered on the North by Carolina Beach, on the west by the Cape Fear River and to the east by the Atlantic Ocean. Just 18 miles southeast of Wilmington, Kure Beach is one of three Atlantic Ocean beaches near Wilmington, and it's one of the loveliest beaches on the southeastern North Carolina coast.

A small, year round community, Kure Beach has a small central business district and several distinct residential areas. There are several excellent restaurants serving almost every variety of food as well as a few shops and stores. Primarily a residential community, Kure Beach provides some of the Southeast's most desirable ocean side living opportunities.

For many visitors, this timeless beach town exemplifies the classic summer homes of years gone by. Kure Beach shares a spot of land called Pleasure Island Carolina Beach to the north. It has one of the oldest fishing piers in North Carolina. A new oceanfront park and gazebo, currently in the planning phase, will offer a wonderful addition to the downtown ambiance. Like other area beaches, the big attraction is the clean, uncrowded beach by the warm ocean waters.

Beautiful ocean front and ocean access homes are the premier attractions in Kure Beach. The ocean is within easy walking distance from almost everywhere in the town. What a mixture of styles: Quaint cottages from the 1930s sit nearby modern oceanfront mansions. But the predominant feature is a variety of separate communities offering single family homes, town houses and condominiums in an attractive mix of popular styles.

Climate . . .
Kure Beach has a humid, subtropical climate. Winters are cool with daytime temperatures generally in the 50s and 60s. Night time temperatures are generally in the 30s and 40s, with occasional dips into the 20s. Spring and fall temperatures are generally in the 60s, 70s and low 80s. Heavy pollen is common in the spring. Humidity climbs late in the spring and is present throughout the summer and early fall. Summer is hot, with higher humidity and temperatures in the 80s and 90s. Summer and early fall can bring tropical cyclones (hurricanes) at an average of once every 7 years.

Recreation and Entertainment . . .
Kure Beach operates and maintains several community parks. The city also maintains a number public ocean access sites. Nearby activities include The Fort Fisher Aquarium - one of 3 North Carolina maintained facilities that just underwent a $17 million dollar renovation - don't miss it and the Fort Fisher State Park which includes a Civil War Museum and a state operated beach recreation center. The nearby Carolina Beach State Park provides camping, hiking, nature trails with supervised tours, a marina with Cape Fear River access and access to riverside beaches for fishing.
