When a person writes or asks about living at the beach, he usually is asking for waterfront homes or condos.  Well, Carolina Beach has plenty.  One of my favorite places is the Waterfront Villas on the Intracoastal Waterway at the north end of the island.  It sits on a site where the top end of the beach rounds the corner going north or south in the waterway to the destination of choice.  The original building was constructed in 1998, and it stood alone until 2004, when the building boom started again.  Now there are two buildings, the original one having a smaller living space, and the newer one looking directly north on the waterway, each unit having an elevator.

A person must see the whole development, which also contains a lovely pool and meeting house for the community., as well as a marina for boat owners to use. The marina offers slips to the public for a price.  Some slips are owned by those who own a townhouse in Waterfront, but one may rent or purchase a slip whether or not he owns a townhome in the community.  You must come down to view the area to appreciate it.
